About this calculator
How it works
The maturity value uses compound interest at your chosen frequency. Most Indian banks compound quarterly, so that's the default here.
Compounding frequency matters
The more often interest is credited, the more it earns interest on itself. Monthly compounding at the same headline rate always beats yearly.
Tax on FD interest
FD interest is fully taxable at your slab rate, and banks deduct TDS beyond ₹40,000 a year (₹50,000 for senior citizens). Your post-tax return can be meaningfully lower than the headline rate.
FD vs alternatives
FDs suit short horizons and capital safety. For 5+ year goals, compare against PPF (tax-free) and debt or hybrid funds before locking in.
