BMI Calculator
Body Mass Index is the quickest health screen there is — and one of the first numbers a health insurer looks at.
Your BMI
24.2
Normal weight
- Healthy weight for your height
- 53–72 kg
- Underweight
- below 18.5
- Normal weight
- 18.5 – 24.9
- Overweight
- 25 – 29.9
- Obese
- 30 and above
BMI is a screening measure, not a diagnosis — it doesn't distinguish muscle from fat. Health insurers may load premiums at higher BMIs.
About this calculator
How it works
BMI divides your weight in kilograms by your height in metres squared, then maps the result to WHO adult categories.
Why insurers care
A BMI above the normal band signals higher risk of lifestyle conditions, so insurers may load your premium, add waiting periods, or ask for medical tests.
Its limits
BMI can't tell muscle from fat — athletes often read 'overweight'. Waist circumference and body-fat percentage complete the picture.
Buy cover early
Premiums lock in at the age and health you buy at. Getting health insurance while your BMI and health markers are good keeps costs low for life.
